22 July 1999: The administrator of the failed glass tableware maker, Sasaki Glass Co., said that Toyo Glass had agreed to dispatch an official to manage Sasaki“s efforts to rebuild its business. Sasaki Glass“ main bank Sakura Bank will also help the company, which filed for court protection from creditors in April, in managing its financial and accounting operations, Sasaki Glass administrator Minoru Uchida said in a statement. A spokesman for Sasaki Glass said he could not immediately confirm whether the company was asking Sakura Bank to forgive its debts. Unlisted Toyo Glass is a major producer of glass bottles.
