The 15th semi-annual San Francisco International Gift Fair debuted more than 200 new exhibitors within its 16 divisions, increasing the total net square footage to 323,632 – the largest to date. Overall, the Fair presented 1,709 exhibitors, including six international government-sponsored groups and nearly 30 independent companies from outside the United States. A total of 21,162 buyers – 4,396 of which were first-time attendees – shopped the summer market. Fair highlights included a Gift for Life fundraiser, seminar theme days and one-on-one consultations for retailers. Once again, the market was held in cooperation with the permanent showrooms of The Giftcenter & Jewelrymart. In an effort to provide retailers with quality product from around the world, the Fair welcomed six international government-sponsored groups: British Design Group (England), Craft Australia (Australia), Durma Messe Stuttgart International (Germany), Foreign Trade Center of Lazio (Italy), PROMO Trade Promotion Ltd. of Hungary (Hungary) and The Italian Trade Commission (Itlay). In addition, a number of independent companies from around the world participated in the Fair, representing Austria, Canada, England, Germany, Mexico, South Africa and Zimbabwe. The 16th semi-annual San Francisco International Gift Fair will take place February 3-7 2001 at the Moscone Convention Center and the Concourse Exhibition Hall. The Fair, co-produced by Western Exhibitors, Inc. and GLM, again will run concurrently with the summer market at the permanent showrooms of the Giftcenter & Jewelrymart.
