Samsung Corning said it will invest USD 470 million in China in a bid to penetrate the braun tube market. The company said it will set up a total of 11 production lines by July 2004. This will allow Samsung Corning to supply braun tubes and glass for flat screen TVs to Korean manufacturers selling products in China, including Samsung SDI and LG-Philips Display, as well as Chinese TV manufacturers, the company said.
