Samsung Corning Co. announced that it has signed a US$ 10 million contract to provide Samcor Co. of India with production facilities and technology to manufacture glass bulbs for Braun tubes. Under the deal, Samsung Corning will export and install glass bulb production facilities in a new color Braun tube plant the Indian company will build in Kota City, Rajasthan State. The Samsung group“s glass-making joint venture will also transfer the bulb manufacturing technology to Samcor. The Indian firm will pay running royalties equivalent to three percent of its Braun tube sales for the next six years. The new plant will have an annual production capacity of 5 million funnels for color Braun tubes when completed, Samsung Corning said. The Korean company will dispatch over 60 engineers to India for technical support. Samsung Corning owns a 5% stake in Samcor.
