Saint-Gobain Vertex, a Czech producer of fiberglass fabrics, raised profit by 75% year-on-year to CZK 716.6 million in 2007, according to the company“s annual report. Sales grew to more than CZK 5.7 billion from CZK 5.4 billion a year earlier. Saint-Gobain Vertex exported nearly 70% of output in 2007. The company was influenced by a strong crown and rival products from China as well as central and eastern Europe. The company“s profit included dividends of its subsidiaries Vertex Fabrics and Vertex Glass Mat worth CZK 209.7 million. The two firms generated sales worth CZK 1.8 billion and net profit worth CZK 247 million. Saint-Gobain Vertex owns Polish fiberglass mats maker Saint-Gobain Velimat Polska. In 2007, it sold its 51% stake in Russian fiberglass producer Saint-Gobain Vetrotex Steklovolokno. Saint-Gobain Vertex is part of multinational concern Saint-Gobain. In 2007, it employed 1,345 staff in its four Czech plants.
