Saint-Gobain Veneciana has supplied around 105,000 square meters of various types of glass for facades, interiors and architectural purposes at the Cuatro Torres (Four Towers) Business rea in Madrid, the company said on 6 June 2008. The company highlighted the optimum performance of the materials in regard to energy saving, design, security and quality as well as their environmental and regulatory compatibility. Saint-Gobain Veneciana assured that the installation of higher performance glass in the Cuatro Torres Business Area will mean a considerable reduction in total energy consumption. The appropriate use of solar control glass represents between 5% and 25% of the objectives set by the EU for energy efficiency in buildings, the company noted. The firm has supplied 46,000 square meters of processed glass for the Torre de Cristal (Glass Tower), the highest in the complex, together with the Caja Madrid Tower. The exterior skin of the facade is made up of Sgg Climalit Plus, an insulating material that considerably reduces energy consumption, maintaining a comfortable temperature in the building. The Caja Madrid Tower uses Sgg Climalit Plus with a layer of Sgg Cool-Lite SKN 54 on the exterior of the building, which reduces heating through direct solar radiation by more than half. In the lifts area, the company has used Sgg Cool-Lite 120, for thermal insulation up to three times better than basic double glazing. In the interior of Space Tower, the company has used 3,000 square meters of glass spread amongst the lobby, where Sgg Stadip Satinovo Mate Contrast Diamant was used, the gym (Sgg Securit) and the atrium (Sgg Seralit Design). Finally, Sacyr-Vallehermoso Tower contains 20,000 square meters of an Sgg Stadip Protect safety glass composite that offers high solar control as well as complying with strict technical requirements.
