Saint-Gobain said its US unit Norton“s bid for US plastics maker Furon had been successful, with 96% of Furon shares tendered. The friendly bid, announced in September, was conditional on Norton“s acquiring at least 90% of all Furon shares. Saint-Gobain announced on 20 September that it would pay about US$ 472 million in cash to buy Furon shares at US$ 25.5 per shares. Saint-Gobain said the merger should be finalized by the end of November.
