Bosses at Saint-Gobain have decided to invest EUR 16 million to expand production at the solar control glass plant at La Almunia (Zaragoza, north-east Spain). The mayor of La Almunia, Victoriano Herriz, said the decision had been taken at the company“s Paris headquarters and would lead to the creation of between 40 and 50 new jobs. The newly announced investments come less than a year after the offical opening of the plant on 1 December 2003. The initial investment of EUR 25 million allowed Saint-Gobain to set up a 20,000 sq m plant on the 75,000 sq m site. When the plant opened, the company hinted that it had chosen the site with a view to future expansion.
