At the Ordinary and Extraordinary Annual General Meeting of France“s Compagnie de Saint-Gobain on Thursday 10 June 2004 in Paris, the company reiterated its earlier-stated profit goals for the year. Chairman Jean-Louis Beffa was quoted as saying “I believe that despite the high energy and raw material costs, we can deliver operating profit growth of 4% to 5% at constant exchange rates and excluding the Dahl acquisition.” Saint-Gobain announced the acquisition of Sweden“s Dahl International AB, the Scandinavian leader in sanitary, heating and plumbing distribution, on 13 May 2004. Jean-Louis Beffa, Isabelle Bouillot, Sylvia Jay and Jos Luis Leal Maldonado were relected to serve new terms on the board. Gianpaolo Caccini was also elected as Director, to replace Eric d“Hautefeuille who passed away in January 2004. Mr. Caccini was formerly Chief Operating Officer of Saint-Gobain. The meeting also approved payment of a net dividend of EUR 1.15 per share (giving rise to a tax credit of up to EUR 0.575 for eligible shareholders). The dividend will be paid entirely in cash from Thursday 24 June 2004. At its meeting following the Annual General Meeting, the Board of Directors re-appointed Jean-Louis Beffa as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Compagnie de Saint-Gobain.
