German glass manufacturer Saint-Gobain Oberland AG posted a EUR 33 million net profit for 2001, compared to EUR 20 million for 2000, as reported by the company on 14 May 2002. Saint-Gobain Oberland registered a EUR 329 million turnover for 2001, an increase of EUR 3.0 million compared to 2000. The company faced decreased demand for glass packaging in Germany, as a result of the increased consumption of plastic bottles. Saint-Gobain Oberland saw its sales rise in foreign markets in 2001. The number of Saint-Gobain Oberland employees remained unchanged at 1,754 in 2001.
