Float glass manufacturer Saint-Gobain India has launched new range of fire-safety glasses that can, the company says, provide fire resistance up to 120 minutes. The glass is made using advanced tempering or multi-lamination processes, and can be used for doors, partitions, building faades, fire exits, server rooms and corridors. The glass can also provide high light transmission, thus enabling visibility of trapped people. Saint Gobain has two manufacturing facilities in India and holds 38% market share in the float glass market. The almost two hours of fire resistance would allow enough time for either stopping or escaping from the place and moreover, would cut off the heat generated by the fire, thus avoiding casualties caused by the heat. The glasses can be used in hotel lobbies, staircase, theatres, airports, hospitals, stadiums and commercial buildings.
