Fiberglass manufacturer Saint-Gobain Icasa in Spain has submitted a proposal of temporary lay-offs for 81 of its 89 employees at the facility in Miranda (Burgos, northern Spain). According to a communique from the works committee, an agreement has been reached with management and submitted to the Castille and Leon region, which will decide whether to approve the proposal. The agreement stated that “there will be partial suspensions of activity from 11 March until 31 July 2009”. The lay-offs could be partially suspended before the scheduled period, if new orders come in.
