The hearing date for the lawsuit filed by Russian cosmetics company Kalina (Yekaterinburg) against the French bottle and jar producer Saint-Gobain was to be set at the end of August, it was reported. The Russian company filed its case with the International Commercial Arbitration Court at the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICAC) in Moscow on 15 July. The cosmetics company claims that Saint-Gobain was careless in implementing its obligations, which led Kalina to incur losses of EUR 441,483. A copy of the lawsuit was sent to Saint-Gobain, which had 30 days to analyze it. Kalina signed a contract with Saint-Gobain on the supply of perfume bottles in June 2001. The bottles were to be supplied by 21 September, but part of the batch was only sent on 27 November. Kalina owns two companies in Yekaterinburg, the cosmetics combine Alye Parusa in Ukraine, the household chemicals plant Pallada-Vostok in Uzbekistan, the Omsk washing power plant and the Lola cosmetics plant in Tashkent. Kalina plans to acquire several more plants in Russia to produce aerosols. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development owns 17.84% of shares and private shareholders own 79%.
