One of the companies that takes the greatest advantage of the benefits provided by the processes created by the use of e-procurement is French multinational Saint-Gobain, which generated revenues of R$2.4 billion in 2000, in Brazil, and links a chain of industries like Brasilit, Quartzoit and Saint-Gobain Vidros (ex-Santa Marina). Saint-Gobain foresees the global reorganization of the working groups, especially those of the purchasing areas, with the help of new technologies like e-procurement. Because it is the most advanced, the Brazilian operation is being followed closely by the French parent company. Besides being advanced, it also is extensive, since it works with direct materials (production) and indirect ones, like maintenance, repairs and operation, acquired through quotations and purchases.
