Saint-Gobain“s Brazilian packaging unit announced on 22 December 2008 a BRS 6 billion investment at its plant in Porto Ferreira, So Paulo state for the installation of an electrostatic filter, aimed at reducing emissions from the glass furnace. According to the company, the initiative places the unit among the world“s most modern glass plants, especially in terms of emissions control. The measure reinforces Saint-Gobain“s target of investing in environment conservation and protection. The Porto Ferreira plant produces over 300 million glass bottles per year, mainly for the Brazilian beer sector.
