The de Wendel family, represented by the Wendel Holding company, is looking to secure three seats on the executive board of French glass and building materials manufacturer Compagnie de Saint-Gobain SA, French business weekly Challenges reported 10 January 2008, without citing sources. Wendel“s stake in Saint-Gobain had reached 18% by mid-December 2007. On 14 December 2007, Wendel chairman and chief executive Jean-Bernard Lafonta was quoted as saying that the investment firm was in talks on obtaining representation on the Saint-Gobain board.
