Workers at the Saint-Gobain de Montblanc plant in Tarragona (north-east Spain) began an indefinite round of one-hour per shift stoppages aimed at obtaining salary improvements, unions at the container glass plant said 19 October 2005. The spokesman for the company committee, Xavier Blnquez, said that 30 workers stopped work for one hour on 19 October. Blnquez said that for several years the 100-strong workforce has been asking for “a decent contract and salaries similar to those of the rest of the workers in the group”. The strikes of one hour per shift were set to continue indefinitely until the company responded to their demands, he said.
