France“s Saint-Gobain said on 6 January that its packaging unit, Saint-Gobain Emballage, had sold its glass container process control equipment subsidiary, SGCC, to another French operation, Groupe Qualis. A spokesman said the turnover of the unit sold, which was 99% held by Saint-Gobain, was FFr 160 million francs in 1996 but that the sale details would not be revealed. The management team at SGCC will reportedly remain unchanged and will maintain technical cooperation links with Saint-Gobain.
