The abrasives division of the French group Saint-Gobain has acquired the Colombian firm Pabsa (220 employees, FFr 66 million in annual sales) and the Venezuelan company Carboven (250 staff, annual turnover of FFr 34 million). Pabsa produces grinding wheels and coated abrasives at its Mosquera plant in the suburbs of Bogota while Carboven has two plants: one in Maracay (150 km west of Caracas), producing grinding wheels, and the other one in Los Teques (Caracas suburb) producing coated abrasives. In a statement, Saint-Gobain said that both acquisitions will complete the presence of the Abrasives Division in South America and will therefore be integrated within the Saint-Gobain Abrasives activities in South America.
