One of subsidiaries of Veda group, which is engaged in alcohol production, has built a new plant. The volume of investments into the project amounted to US$ 50 million. The construction of the glass package plant was one of the largest projects in Leningrad region, therefore governor Valeriy Serdyukov was expected to be present at the opening of the enterprise. Initially the plant will produce 300 million bottles per year. The second phase of the enterprise is planned to be put into operation in the third quarter of 2002; with a capacity of over 270 million bottles a year. The plant will provide North-West companies as well as Kristall (Moscow) and Rosspirtprom with glass packaging, according to investors.
