In settlement of a dispute over a consignment of glass bottles, Kalina, a Yekateringburg-based perfumery and cosmetics company, reached an out-of-court deal with Saint-Gobain of France worth EUR 120,000 in compensation. The resolution to the dispute was agreed in the first week of June 2003, a spokesman for Kalina, Sergei Kazantsev revealed. Saint-Gobain agreed to pay compensation in return for Kalina dropping all its claims and withdrawing its lawsuit against the French company The lawsuit was filed on 15 July 2002 following what Kalina said was careless behavior by the French company in meeting its obligations that led to Kalina suffering material losses, estimated at EUR 441,483. In a contract signed on 28 June 2001 and worth EUR 55,660, Saint-Gobain should have supplied a batch of bottles by 21 September 2001, but some of the batch was not delivered until 27 November 2003. In addition, the product received did not meet quality standards. Kalina“s biggest shareholder is its general director, Timur Goryaev, with 66.04% and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development owns 19.23%.
