The Nefteotdacha Research and Technological Center plans to build a glass container production plant and an ore-dressing mill at the Pisarevsky quartz sand deposit in the Ardatovsky district (Nizhny Novgorod region). The plans were approved on 5 December 2007 by the investment council of the regional governor. One of the founders of the center, Aleksandr Sitnikov, said that the project will be completed by 2011 with an investment of around RUR 4.7 billion. The Pisarevskoy quartz sand reserves are estimated at 45 million tonnes. The company plans to mine 1 million tonnes of sand per year, of which 240,000 tonnes will go to its own plant, which will have a production capacity of 1.2 billion bottles per year. Technical director Vadim Shadrunov said the Pisarevsky sands can be used to make containers for the food and pharmaceutical industry. Aleksandra Sitnikov said NTTS Nefteotdacha plans to supply sand to AGC BSZ (Bor glass works) and others.
