29 October 1998: Cash from a legal case won against Playboy magazine is set to boost sales of Royal Doulton perfume, according to a recent press report. The Brandselite International Corporation launched Royal Doulton-branded perfume under a licence from Stoke-based (UK) pottery firm earlier this year. Now Brandselite has won US$ 1.4 million (about UK 875,000) in a legal dispute with Playboy, the report said. The magazine publisher cancelled a 1995 agreement which would have seen it market spirits under the Playboy brand name. The chief executive of Brandselite, Sam Ghazouli, has reportedly said that the money will be ploughed into promoting its Doulton line of fragrances, which have been launched in Canada and the US, as well as the UK and Middle East.
