11 February 1999: According to a recent press report, a number of workers at Royal Crown Derby in Osmaston Road, Derby, which is owned by Royal Doulton, have returned to a five-day week. However, it is not yet known whether all 220 workers will be back to full-time work before 17 February 1999, when the Princess Royal will visit the site. “Two departments have returned to a five-day week and others will follow as demand improves,” said Valerie Baynton, a company spokeswoman.
