Austrian fire-proof materials manufacturer RHI said that its nine-month operating profit plummeted versus the year-earlier period, adding that it expects to post a full-year net loss in 2001. RHI“s earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT), or operating profit, plunged to Euro 18.2 million in January-September from Euro 76 million a year earlier due to operating losses incurred in the US. The group reported nine-month sales of Euro 1.428 billion, Euro 215 million less than in the year-earlier period. Losses in the US will contribute to a net loss this year, after a net profit of Euro 21.2 million in 2000, the company said in a statement.
