Deutsche Umwelthilfe e.V. (DUH) and the Initiative Mehrweg foundation have organized the Reusable Innovation Award for award services and initiatives that have innovatively developed recycling systems or have increased the use of reusable glass. As in previous years, focus is on glass as a packaging material, which, in combination with the environmentally friendly returnable concept, creates a system that is still the basis of a unique, regional variety of drinks in Germany. All glass manufacturers or bottlers, scientific institutes, companies or associations of enterprises, organisations and institutions dealing with glass packaging, are invited to submit their ideas for new reusable bottles, optimized system concepts, marketing strategies or other innovations for the ecologically optimized use of glass bottles. Each participant must supply information regarding the features of the product promoting the reusability of glass. This information includes: a short description of the product or product idea; a short description of the innovation; data and facts for the use for the environment; samples of products, hard copies of photos or photos in tif or jpg digital format, free for publication; market development or potential, and other. Application deadline is 31 January 2008 and the winning ideas will be presented during the Reusable Innovation Award ceremony in April 2008, in Berlin, Germany.
