Materials from wind turbine blades could be recycled for used in building insulation, according to trials made by Danish company Refiber. However, company director Erik Grove-Nielsen said the materials will not be recycled as long as fiberglass can be dumped as refuse at low cost. He would like to see an EU ban on dumping the waste. Refiber has developed a patented process, where composite materials are burnt at 600 degrees, and the pure fiberglass material that is created is mixed with 2% plastic fibres, heated and used as glue to make insulation mats.
