2 October 1997: Italian company Refel, part of the German Veitsch-Radex/Didier group and a producer of fused-cast refractories for the glassmaking industry, has been awarded DIN ISO 9001 certification by the German TUV-CERT International Certification Body. The certification covers “Production and Sales Activity of Fused Cast Refractories for Glass Industry“. Refel states that its Quality Assurance System monitors every phase of production from the initial design of the product to its delivery to the end user. The company also said it has adopted a policy aimed at maintaining the highest standards of quality, and developed a dynamic system of management which combines the efficient organisation of qualified staff with state-of-the-art specialist technology. Refel emphasised the fact that its philosophy is one of continuous improvement of product reliability and complete customer satisfaction. It employs technologically innovative equipment to further enhance the high quality standards for the finished products, including original software to control specific lines of the process. Efficient order management and planned use of resources are optimised by a computerised monitoring system of the different phases of the manufacturing cycle. Three grades of fused AZS materials are manufactured by Refel: Refel 1334S (36% ZrO2), Refel 1240 (41% ZrO2), Refel 1532 (32% ZrO2) and the patented composed material Refel 1240FVMO which incorporates an internal molybdenum reinforcement.
