Radex-Heraklith (RHI), the Austrian manufacturer of industrial fireproof materials, said it is aiming to double operating profit in 2000 from the 1998 figure of Sch 1.12 billion (US$ 89 million), and that it is striving for 2.5 billion in the middle term. “We have a good perspective that all earnings figures will be doubled in two to three years“ time from the basis of 1998,” chief executive Georg Obermeier said. He added that the group may hive off its insulation business in the medium term depending on proceeds from the division. “We“ll have to find alternatives if they“re not good. Insulation is not the absolute core business of RHI,” he said. The group may also streamline its range of fireproof products. “We can no longer deliver everything – certain commodities with low margins will be discontinued,” he said.
