Praxair, Inc. announced on 3 April the opening of a new helium transfill facility in Kunshan, Jiangsu Province of China. The new facility will provide additional liquid helium capacity for dewars and gaseous helium for cylinders, storage receivers, and tube trailers. With an expected annual capacity of more than 30 million c.ft., the facility will provide helium for several markets including: magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), optical fibre manufacturing, semiconductor manufacture, welding, cryogenics, leak detection, controlled atmospheres and aerostats/lifting. The facility will enhance Praxair“s existing capability in serving customers and meeting future growth requirements. Praxair is one of the largest producers and suppliers of helium worldwide. It operates helium production facilities in Bushton and Ulysses, Kansas, and has secured additional helium sources within the United States and globally. Praxair has an extensive network of transfill facilities and supply systems strategically located throughout the world. Praxair China, a subsidiary of Praxair, Inc., is one of the largest industrial gases companies in China, serving a diverse group of industries through the production, sale, distribution and value-added applications of industrial gases. Praxair has more than 12 wholly-owned companies and joint ventures, three partnerships, a technology center and several strategic alliances in China. In addition to its Shanghai headquarters, it has a representative office in Beijing.
