PPG Industries has presented six Excellent Supplier Awards for superior performance in 2008. Criteria of the award included product quality, delivery, documentation, innovation, responsiveness, continuous improvement and participation as per PPG“s Supplier Added Value Effort ($AVE) programme. PPG“s vice president of purchasing and distribution, Kathleen McGuire, praised the performance of the award-winning suppliers. Their products, services, reliability, innovation and overall value in 2008 were outstanding, she said. We consider them invaluable business partners who provide a significant competitive advantage to PPG. PPG purchases more than USD 8 billion in materials and services per year from thousands of suppliers. The companies receiving the 2008 Excellent Supplier Award, along with the products and services they provide, are: * Denver Industria e Comercio de Produtos Quimicos Ltda., Sao Paulo, Brazil – acrylic emulsions for PPG“s South American architectural coatings business; * KD Wood Co., Inc., Brownsboro, Ala. – packaging and supply integration services for PPG“s US aerospace business; * MPW Industrial Services Group, Inc., Hebron, Ohio – cleaning services for stainless steel intermediate bulk containers to PPG“s US automotive original-equipment, refinish and industrial coatings businesses; * Optimodal, Inc., West Chester, Pa. – tank container intermodal transportation to PPG“s US automotive original-equipment coatings, optical products and packaging coatings businesses; * Paramount Global Services, Inc., La Mirada, Calif. – packaging supplies, third-party logistics services and freight forwarding services for PPG“s US aerospace business; * TECMEC Srl, Albairate, Italy – point-of-sale mixing equipment and cabinets to PPG“s automotive refinish business in the US and Europe.
