Werner Baer has joined global supplier of coatings, glass, fibre glass and chemicals, PPG Industries as vice president, information technology, responsible for managing the company“s global information technology systems and strategies. Before joining PPG, Baer had been global director of information systems field services for Dow Chemical. During his 19-year career at Dow, Baer held information technology leadership positions for the company in the US, Switzerland, France, Spain and the Asia/Pacific region. Baer began his career in finance with IBM before joining Dow. Baer succeeds David W. Smith, who retired in July. A native of Switzerland, Baer, 44, earned a bachelor of science degree in business administration at the University of St. Gall, Switzerland. Baer and his wife, Fabiola, have three children.
