AIVE, the association of Portuguese glass makers, has launched a new advertising campaign aimed at increasing usage of glass packaging among the country“s food product manufacturers. The two stage campaign, which began in the week commencing 4 April 2005, will help boost output in Portugal“s glass products industry, said AIVE representative Beatriz Freitas. The second stage of the campaign is planned to be launched on 26 April 2005, Freitas added. The total investment in the campaign is approximately EUR 200,000 (USD 257,580). The campaign was launched on radio stations in Portugal, as well as in the outdoor media. Currently there are a total 55 companies operating in the glass products manufacturing sector in Portugal, employing some 2,500 workers. Exports account for 90% of the total production of Portugal“s largest glass maker BA Vidro, formerly Barbosa & Almeida.
