On 19 July, a Russian-German joint venture to manufacture windows and doors was commissioned. It was called Polyot-Fris, and was set up by Russia“s aerospace firm Polyot and Germany“s private company Fris Metalbau GmbH. The latter contributed equipment with a capacity for 80 windows and 350 double-glass panes per shift. According to the Polyot Director, General Stanislav Osmulsky, the new products are marked by a high degree of heat insulation. The project is expected to help Polyot improve its financial standing, since it is in trouble due to falling defence orders.
