Pilkington has signed an agreement with Swedish power utility Vattenfall for portfolio management and electricity supply to the glass manufacturer in Sweden, Finland and Norway. Pilkington and Vattenfall have had a business relationship since 2001, and the expanded agreement means that co-operation will continue at least until the end of 2011. Vattenfall has previously handled Pilkington“s portfolio management. The new agreement also includes supply of electricity in the three Nordic countries. Pilkington supplies glass and glass products to the construction and automobile industry. The volume of the contract reaches 0.2TWh/year, which corresponds to annual electricity supplies for around 40,000 homes. Anna Borg, head of sales for Vattenfall Nordic, said: “We have a great deal of interest in this type of overall supply, and our interest is growing. Vattenfall showing that we can put together an overall competitive solution helps increase our credibility in discussions with customers. “We want to do business in all of the Nordic countries. We have a large client base in Sweden, and our market in Finland is steadily growing. We have made an entry into the market, and our aim now is to develop our business further in both countries”.
