The UK glass operation Pilkington Sandoglass is to invest Zl 100 million (US$ 33 million) in the construction of a car window production facility in Sandomierz, in south-eastern Poland. According to Wieslaw Warzecha, the mayor of Sandomierz, the new plant, whose construction should be completed in August 1998, will employ 300 people. It will have an annual production of 400,000 sets of windows (front, side and rear). The company will not press the municipality to join a special economic zone as it would make it impossible to export the plant“s products, Pilkington Sandoglass development director Marian Ciaglo said.
