Pilkington France, the French division of the UK glass manufacturer, is in talks on the sale of its plants in Vendin-le-Vieil in northern France and Herbiers in the west to Pierre Riou, chairman of the French flat glass processor Vitrages Isolants de Pont-Audemer (VIP). Pilkington has said that it must refocus its manufacturing operations if it is to enhance its development projects. VIP, which makes IG units, toughened glass, and bent glass products, is based in Boulleville in Normandy, northern France.
