9 July 1998: US-based Pilkington LOF has introduced a new addition to its line of Eclipse reflective glass products with the Spring 1998 introduction of EverGreen Eclipse reflective glass. Built upon the qualities of its Evergreen high-performance tinted float glass, EverGreen Eclipse glass offers solar control, but in a reflective glass. The newest member of the Eclipse glass line also provides architects and specifiers with another choice in designing for the environment. “The trend in today“s architecture continues to be adaptive and complementary to the natural environment,” said David Morris, architectural products manager for Pilkington LOF. “EverGreen high-performance glass has been very successful because it meets many of an architect“s objectives, pleasing aesthetics, low solar heat gain and shading coefficient, high daylight transmittance. With our new EverGreen Eclipse Glass, the building industry can get many of those same qualities but in a reflective glass. We expect EverGreen Eclipse glass to be very well received, especially in markets outside of the US,” Morris added. Performance-wise, EverGreen Eclipse Glass has the lowest shading coefficient of any Eclipse product and, for a reflective glass, offers a relatively high visible light transmittance. In addition to its performance and aesthetic qualitites, EverGreen Eclipse glass“ pyrolytic coating makes it ideal for fast-track projects, which is not always the case for sputter-coated or soft-coat glass products. EverGreen Eclipse glass can be handled, cut, bent, laminated, heat-strengthened and tempered using standard float glass techniques.
