Pilkington France, a subsidiary of UK glassmaker Pilkington, in turn a subsidiary of Japanese glass company Nippon Sheet Glass Co. Ltd., said on 1 October 2009 that it had sold its activities for windows conversion in building to French peer Riou. Pilkington France, which currently employs 350 in Parne, Gaillefontaine, Lanvollon and Marmande, generated turnover of EUR 50 million in 2008. The sale, the acquisition price of which was not disclosed, is part of Pilkington“s reorganization in France aimed at reducing the staff to 150. The company will only continue its activities in France related to trade in flat windows in the construction and automotive sectors, and also the commercialization and conversion of special fire-resistant products, based in Vitry.
