The Primary Glass Manufacturers Council (PGMC) has developed and is carrying out an aggressive campaign to promote the use of low-e glass through federal policies developed by the Bush Administration and in Congress. Mortgage preference incentives or tax deductions for homes, tax credits for homes and commercial buildings, expanded application of federal initiatives such as the Energy Star Program and promulgation of minimum standards for glass products in local building codes, could be some of the benefits of using low-e glass. PGMC“s platform paper was recently developed and presented to the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee and the Senate Environmental and Public Works Committee. Additional presentations to public policy development officials and staffs are being planned. PGMC“s message was also presented at a public hearing held on June 26 in Washington, D.C..
