A sharp rise in turnover enabled the UK“s Pentagon Protection PLC to turn around to a pretax profit in the six months to 31 March 2004. Pentagon Protection PLC, which provides protective glazing products to the automotive commercial and residential markets, said the results are broadly in line with management“s expectations and strategy. Pretax profit for the 1H was GBP 253,000, up from a loss of GBP 76,669 a year earlier, on turnover of GBP 755,757 compared with GBP 531,930. Chairman David Thomas said the integration of Filmtek Ltd, the group“s first acquisition since the April 2003 flotation on AIM, is progressing well. Pentagon Protection acquired Filmtek in December 2003 in order to support the company“s leadership in the delivery of improved security and safety for glass of any kind, and this is being reflected in the figures and more broadly based business mix, he added. Thomas said Pentagon Protection is well placed to take advantage of market opportunities in the UK and overseas for both its Filmtek and Pentagon Glass Tech subsidiaries. “We look forward to continued progress across all areas of the business”.
