16 October 1997: The Lithuanian Ministry of Construction and Urban Development has drawn up a privatisation programme for Panevezys Glass, the largest glassworks in the Baltics, at a price of 39.6 million litas. The state holds 99.3% of the company“s stock. The programme must still be approved by the government“s Privatisation Commission. As a condition in the plant“s privatisation, the future owner will have to pay the company“s debts and take over all of its financial liabilities for the day of the take-over. The privatisation will be by means of an international tender.
