Glass maker Owens-Illinois Inc. spent USD 290,000 in the 1Q 2010 lobbying the federal government on a range of issues, including cap and trade legislation, carbon taxes and legislation affecting packaging, according to a disclosure filing. That is an increase of 14% from the USD 255,000 the Perrysburg, Ohio, company spent on lobbying in the same period 2009 and the USD 274,000 it spent in the 4Q 2009. Owens-Illinois also lobbied the government on legislation on beverage container recycling, alternative minimum tax credits, job incentives and federal funding related to energy efficiency. The company lobbied both chambers of Congress, as well as the Environmental Protection Agency, according to a quarterly regulatory filing dated 14 April 2010.
