To satisfy growing consumer demand for its PINK insulating products, Owens Corning said it continues to expand its successful RHOAD(TM) technology platform within its North American manufacturing network. With recent approval from its Board of Directors to implement the RHOAD technologies on a second production line at its Delmar, New York facility, the company“s Insulating Systems Business is investing approximately US$ 30 million to increase the capacity of the line by 20%. “While new construction has slowed a bit, overall housing starts for 1999 will still be near record levels,” said Dave Brown, president, Insulating Systems Business, Owens Corning. “I“m a strong believer in “you have to spend money to make money,“ provided that the spending is based on solid growth opportunities.” “Our proprietary RHOAD technology platform has enabled us to incrementally increase capacity at our existing production facilities without expensive and sometimes speculative greenfield investments,” added Brown. The RHOAD platform emphasizes high productivity and low cost, and is based on the company“s best fiberizing, production controls, fibre glass melting and forming technologies.
