23 July 1998: Owens Corning India Ltd. is reportedly setting up a US$ 400 million plant in Maharashtra, with a production capacity of 30,000 tonnes of fibre glass reinforcements. The plant is scheduled to commence commercial production this month. The plant is equipped to expand capacity to 90,000 tonnes per year. Owens Corning India Ltd. is establishing the fibre glass plant in a joint venture with Mahindra and Mahindra. Accoring to a recent report, the plant is scheduled to supply 75% of its production to the global composites market and 25% of the production will be made available for sale in India.
