16 October 1997: According to reports in the Danish press, the brewer Carlsberg is planning to sell its 83% stake in Royal Copenhagen as part of a major restructuring operation. The disposal of Royal Copenhagen could affect the future ownership of the Swedish glassmaker Orrefors Kosta Boda. As reported in the last issue of Weekly World News, Royal Copenhagen recently increased its stake in Orrefors Kosta Boda to 36% as part of a deal which also involved the Swedish investment company Scandinavian Equity Partners (SEP). SEP“s managing director Conni Jonsson said SEP would be interested in buying Royal Copenhagen if Carlsberg wanted to sell.
