Omniglass (2010) Inc., Winnipeg, Manitoba, has licensed the assets and intellectual property of Cleveland-based SureView Inc. The transaction between these two fiberglass window component suppliers, which includes access to SureView“s product designs, patents and tooling, is: a real positive for existing customers and new potential customers, says Mark Back, responsible for product and business development at Omniglass. Our ability to provide a turnkey fiberglass window system is a huge boon to the industry,” adds Matt de Witt, Omniglass VP of sales and business development. “It reduces the barrier to entry by decreasing costs associated with design, tooling and testing. This allows companies to get into the business quickly, with substantially lower capital investment. Omniglass had already been pultruding SureView“s fiberglass window systems and now, together with its parent company, the recently-renamed Serious Energy, plans to put the resources behind SureView to make it a standalone company that can serve as a true system supplier for window fabricators, Back states. It will be working to launch new product lines as well as establishing a US office and warehouse location, he adds. SureView, founded by Resilience Capital Partners, a Cleveland-based private investment company, is more of a start-up operation, while Resilience is geared to acquiring companies in bankruptcy. Resilience started in the fiberglass pultrusion business acquiring Omega Polymer Technologies, and renaming it Composite Technologies of America. These company assets were then sold to Andersen Corp., a long-time customer. After that sale, Resilience launched SureView in 2008. With the licensing agreement, Resilience remains owner of the business, but Omniglass will enable Sureview to expand on its products and programs, and provide our fabricators with a lot more support, Back concludes. There“s a lot of enthusiasm and we“re excited about the potential that“s out there for a real fiberglass system supplier.
