IFS and Glava AS, a major Norwegian producer of insulation and other building products, have collaborated to develop a software solution for building material manufacturers. The software, which automates some of the most complicated business processes in the industry“s supply chain, is a completely integrated and cost-effective standard solution. It has already been sold to leading manufacturers such as Optiroc and ByggmaASA . Glava, Optiroc and Byggma go live with the solution at the beginning of 2003. The solution will ensure a higher degree of service and significantly improved financial management as it automates a number of processes, including e-commerce, freight calculations, agreements, and discount and bonus arrangements between producers and their customers. Automation provides for improved financial management of costs in the industry“s value chain. The solution is an integrated part of the manufacturers“ supply chain management and financial systems and meets the standards of the Norwegian Building Materials Database (NOBB) and corresponding industrial standards. IFS is in a strong position as a supplier of IT solutions to the building material industry. Close collaboration between customers and suppliers combined with cutting edge skills in the industry“s special business processes has led to the evolution of a future-oriented solution that IFS is to market in Norway and internationally. According to Glenn Arnesen, head of sales and marketing at IFS Norway, building material manufacturers distributed their products via marketing channels that were dominated by D.I.Y. stores and specialist retail outlets. IFS Applications, he said, now offerered functionality to streamline each phase in the supply chain, increasing efficiency in a highly competitive market with low margins.
