Established in 1825, Norman & Underwood is one of the UK“s leading lights in sympathetic restoration and conservation of some of the world“s finest buildings. Many cathedrals, palaces, stately homes and key public buildings have benefitted from the touch of Norman & Underwood“s skilled craftsmen. The family-owned company, which started out in the plumbing and glazing sector has expanded over the years and now specializes in offering replacement glass and glazing services, aluminium and structural glazing systems, metal roofing and cladding, leadwork and stained glass services. The company has evolved to bring glazing and roofing to state of the art buildings in Europe, including the innovative Surrey base for software giant Hyperion, whilst retaining traditional skills and expertise. From re-roofing York Minster, Westminster Abbey and St Paul“s Cathedral to partnering with Villeroy & Boch to supply beautiful bathrooms and washrooms, the company“s diverse approach to sustainable, sympathetic yet innovative architectural solutions places them firmly at the forefront of UK manufacturers. For 180 years The Norman & Underwood Group Head Office was based on the same city centre site where, in 1825, cousins Thomas Norman and John Underwood began their General Plumbing and Glazing business. However in 2005 the Group“s Head Office and its Leicester based activities were forced to relocate to a new site approximately three miles to the West. Today the Group consists of around 100 people, specializing in areas such as replacement glass and glazing, aluminium and structural glazing systems, metal roofing and cladding, architectural leadwork and stained glass, resulting in an extensive repertoire of experience and design. The Group“s skills and craftsmanship have come to be recognized not only in the UK but also internationally through involvement with a variety of major and prestigious projects. Whilst adopting new technology and processes, Norman & Underwood still maintains its old valued traditions, which are reflected in the quality of their work. It is a prime objective for Norman & Underwood to offer customer service and quality that are second to none, but at highly competitive prices. The Group“s activities are: o Aluminium & Structural Glazing Systems o General, Emergency & Replacement Glazing, Stained Glass & Leaded Lights o Trade Counter for Roofing & Glazing Materials & Products o Roofing & Metal Cladding – traditional sand cast and rolled lead, copper, zinc, aluminium and stainless steel.
