Nippon Sheet Glass Co. announced at the end of August 2009 that it will sell its wholly owned unit Nippon Muki Co. to air-conditioner manufacturer Daikin Industries Ltd. for JPY 5 billion. All shares in the subsidiary, which makes air filters and room-cleaning devices, will be sold by the end of October 2009. Nippon Sheet Glass will book an extraordinary loss of about JPY 3.2 billion in the six months ending September 2009 due to the stock transfer, but said that it will not revise its earnings outlook for the period.
